Top 7 Best TV For PS5 to Buy in 2021 – Reviews

With the arrival of PlayStation 5, it would be necessary to have a 4K TV that uses the next-gen console to the best of its ability. As far as updates from the PS4 Pro are concerned, the PS5 now enables 4k gaming up to 120fps, and many Televisions now have the requisite HDMI 2.1 support to view this resolution at a high frame rate.

The console does not have variable refresh rate (VRR) compatibility for release, but does gain support for HDMI Forum VRR support for future updates. It’s essential to get a Television that supports HDMI Forum VRR, and you can also look for other options that also provide a good gaming experience, such as ‘Auto Low Latency Mode,’ a low input lag, and a fast response time. The below listed are the best gaming TV for PS5 that you can purchase and enjoy the best gaming experience. Also, see our recommendations for the best gaming TVs, the best 4k TVs, and the best HDR TVs.

Will I Need a 4K TV For PS5?

Obviously, the CRT would not be able to support the PS5, so don’t use it. The good news is that you’re not going to need a 4K TV to use a PS5 – the chances are your existing TV would be just fine.

Sony’s Ultimate FAQ stated that the ‘PS5 does not need a 4K TV. Supported resolutions include 720p, 1080i, 1080p, and 2160p.” Interestingly, 1440p is not supported by the console.

The biggest feature to look for is the HDMI connectivity – the PS5 has an HDMI 2.1 cable in the box, so you’d have the highest resolution if the system will fit that standard.

Today, HDMI 2.1 TVs are still very high-end, but it would be a cause for alarm if it wasn’t for limited functionality with the technology. As long as your Television has an HDMI 2.0b connection, the PS5 should be perfect.

If you’ve got a Full HD TV with 1080p resolution, and you’ve got an HDMI cable to stick somewhere, we hope you’re just going to be great and you don’t need to upgrade. But you’re not going to see the graphics in their full glory.

Should I Get a 4K TV For PS5?

This is the main question, and the solution is completely down to the circumstances. You’ll be able to see a visual difference on either a 2.0b or a 2.1 connection, so you’ll still see some amazing improvements.

You’d need a 4K TV to completely enjoy the impact of the PS5, but the difference is just visual, so it’s not a necessary buy. When you feel like you’re splashing out and you can afford to go for it, but don’t feel like you need to. We’ve got the best TVs to buy for PS5 right here if you’re tempted to update.   It might be worth waiting for 8K if you just want to see the difference.

Does the PS5 Support 8K?

Although many are still getting around to update their setup to 4K from 1080p, 8K is steadily growing rapidly on the market, with owners of these 8K devices wondering whether they can be completely used by the PS5.

Sony clarified that the PS5 is consistent with 8K screens at launch and that after a future system software update, up to 8K resolutions can be generated when content is accessible with supported software.”

From this the PS5 will support 8K content, but not at launch, considering the limited proportion of games, media and applications that support the 8K screen. Until 8K becomes more common and developers start promoting the display, PS5 with a 4K resolution can be performed on 8K monitors or TVs.

1. Best OLED TV For PS5: LG CX OLED

Check the Price on Amazon

The best TV for PS5 with an OLED screen that you can buy this year is the LG CX OLED. This is a luxury 4k TV model with an excellent image quality. The OLED panel can be independently turned off pixels, resulted in an infinite contrast ratio. It has wide angles of view, which is perfect for co-op gaming.

It’s loaded with features to satisfy owners of the next-gen console. It has four HDMI 2.1 inputs that support 4k @120Hz, and HDMI Platform VRR support can balance your game frame rate. Input lag is extremely low, leading in a fast gameplay experience, and response time is almost instantaneous, so rapidly content looks smooth and crisp. It’s also perfect for HDR gaming because it shows a very wide range of colors, has outstanding gradient handling, and is excellently bright in HDR, enough to pull out some highlights, but not all.

Unfortunately, like every OLED TV, there is a possibility of permanent burn-in. This may be troublesome for constant exposure to the very same static features, such as the user interface of a game, but we don’t consider this to be an issue for those viewing a range of content. In addition to its excellent dark-room efficiency, it also performs well in a bright setting, as it has excellent visible handling and reasonable peak brightness. All things considered, if you’re looking for an OLED, this is the best 4k TV for PS5  we’ve ever reviewed.

PROS

  • Infinite contrast ratio.
  • Wide viewing angles.
  • VRR support.
  • Displays wide color gamut.

CONS

  • Risk of permanent burn-in.
  • Only decent HDR peak brightness.

2. Best LED TV For PS5: Samsung Q80/Q80T QLED

Check the Price on Amazon

The best TV for PS5 with an LED screen that we reviewed is the Samsung Q80/Q80T QLED. It’s loaded with gameplay features and offers outstanding image quality when you’re watching it in a lighter and darker space. The 55-inch and larger variants of this TV have a 120Hz panel and VRR assistance, but the 49-inch and 50-inch models are limited to a 60Hz panel and lack VRR support.

It has an outstanding response time and a Black Frame Incorporation feature that results in smooth motion with fast-moving content. The input lag is extremely low, whether you play at 60Hz or 120Hz, and it remains low with VRR allowed. There’s one HDMI 2.1 input that matches 4k @120Hz content, but there’s no reliable way to verify it if it helps HDMI Forum VRR anymore. This Television has a VA display with a high contrast ratio, but it’s smaller than most VA panel TVs because of Extreme Viewing Angle tech. This enhances viewing angles, so it’s a good option for co-op gaming, and there’s a local dimming feature if you want to improve your black level even further.

Unfortunately, there are uniformity problems with dirty effectively deliver in the center, but this differs from one unit to another. It’s a perfect option for HDR gaming, as it gets vivid enough to allow pop highlights, and displays a wide variety of colors. Also it has exceptional reflecting handling if you choose to use it in a well-lit room. All then again, when you’re on the search for an LED option, this is the best 4K TV for PS5.

PROS

  • Excellent response time.
  • Great contrast ratio.
  • Remarkable reflection handling.
  • Decent viewing angles.

CONS

  • Corners of the screen appear darker.

3. Cheaper Alternative: SONY X900H

Check the Price on Amazon

And you’ll save any money on a Smart Tvs, check out Sony X900H. It doesn’t have large viewing angles such as the Samsung Q80/Q80T QLED, but it has a much improved contrast ratio, making it a good option for dark-room gameplay. Which doesn’t have VRR functionality too but that doesn’t make a difference because the PS5 does not really support VRR yet, and both the TV and the controller should get it in a future firmware upgrade. Continues to support 4k @ 120Hz on two of its inputs, has an extremely low input lag, and a quick response time so that motion looks natural. It has a good reflective handling and is bright enough to fight the glare in a well-lit world. It displays a wide variety of colors, but with its only respectable HDR peak brightness, certain highlighting do not stand out from the way the designer expected. Finally, it has outstanding out-of-the-box color quality, so you do not need to have it calibrated to experience it to the fullest.

If you simply want the best TV for PS5 in the LED category, you can’t go wrong with the Samsung, but if you want something slightly cheaper, then check out the Sony.

PROS

  • Excellent contrast ratio.
  • Fast response time.
  • Great peak brightness.

CONS

  • Sub-par viewing angles.
  • VRR support not yet active.

4. Best 4k TV For PS5: Vizio P Series Quantum 2020

Check the Price on Amazon

The best gaming TV for PS5 we’ve reviewed is the Vizio P Series Quantum 2020. A premium LED alternative, it provides excellent image quality and renders HDR content look beautiful. Additionally, it has exceptional reflective handling, so glare is not likely to be a problem in most settings.

It’s perfect for gaming because it has a lot of gaming functionality, a really fast response time, and a BFI mode to help minimize motion blur. It provides a good HDR experience thanks to its outstanding color gamut and high peak illumination that allows pop features. It also has an excellent contrast ratio, an impressive black uniformity, and a good local dimming function, making it a perfect option for dark-room gameplay.

Unfortunately, there are uniformity problems of a dirty screen effect in the middle, although these can differ between units. It supports a 4k @ 120Hz signal on several of its inputs, although there are still some problems with it as it skips frames, but we expect it to be resolved in a future firmware update. It’s expected to support the HDMI Forum VRR, but it doesn’t function and it crashes; however we also expect this problem to be resolved in a software update. All things considering, this is the best PS5 TV if you want a fantastic HDR experience.

PROS

  • High contrast ratio.
  • Gets very bright.
  • Good reflection handling.

CONS

  • Poor viewing angles.
  • Some vignetting and dirty screen effect.

5. Brighter Alternative: HISENSE H8G

Check the Price on Amazon

If you enjoy gaming in a well-lit room and need something that fits well in that environment, then check out the Hisense H8G. Doesn’t have VRR supports like the Vizio M7 Quantum 2020 Series, which is surprising, and it still offers fantastic gaming efficiency. It has an extremely low input lag that remains low when gaming in HDR, and it has a fast response time. There is also a Black Frame Incorporation function to help minimize motion blur. It’s getting light enough just to battle the glare and has a good reflective handling, so illumination in bright rooms shouldn’t really be a matter of concern. It also has outstanding contrast, good black uniformity, and decent local dimming to have a perfect dark-room picture quality. Unfortunately, it has small viewing angles, which are predicted from the VA panel, so you lose image quality when viewing off-center.

If you’re searching for the best gaming TV for PS5  and you’re on a budget, you can’t really go wrong with Vizio. However if you don’t mind losing support for VRR and want a brighter model, check out Hisense.

PROS

  • Displays deep blacks.
  • Great SDR peak brightness.
  • Incredibly low input lag.

CONS

  • Narrow viewing angles.
  • Limiting HDR experience.

6. Best Budget TV For PS5: Vizio M7 Series Quantum 2020

Check the Price on Amazon

The  best TV for PS5 in the price segment that we’ve reviewed is the Vizio M7 Quantum 2020 Series. Together with the Vizio M8 Quantum 2020 Series, this is a cheaper alternative packed with gameplay features, which is a pleasant touch for a design in this price range. There’s not a lot of variation between the two, but the M7 is great for gaming and easier to find.

It has a 60Hz screen, but even though it can’t display 120fps of those PS5 games, it’s still a decent option for 60fps games. It has functionality for VRR, though we’re not sure if it supports the VRR HDMI Forum, but we’ll try it again as soon as we can. It has a low input lag when gameplay with 4k content, and remains low in HDR. It’s got a decent response time and a BFI mode to make motion look smooth. The VA panel has an outstanding contrast ratio and good black uniformity, but even though it has a wide range of local dimming features, it simply makes the contrast worse.

It shows an excellent color gamut, but unfortunately, it has a poor HDR peak brightness, so highlights can not pop as they should. It has narrow viewing angles, and when viewing from the edge, you won’t get an accurate image. It also doesn’t get bright enough to battle the glare, but it has good reflective management if you want to position it in a moderately-lit room. Regardless of these minor problems, this is the  best TV for PS5 if you’re on a budget.

PROS

  • Excellent contrast ratio.
  • Good reflection handling.
  • Decent SDR peak brightness.

CONS

  • Narrow viewing angles.
  • Dirty screen effect.

7. Best 4K TV for PS5: LG BX OLED TV

Check the Price on Amazon

The LG BX OLED is an entry-level TV. The LG OLED lineup and like most OLED TVs, provides outstanding current effectiveness. It has an infinite contrast ratio and perfect black uniformity, which is suitable for viewing movies in dark rooms. Gamers can enjoy support for FreeSync variable refresh rate (VRR) and G-SYNC functionality. It has a near-instant response time that results in clear motion, but that means that the lower-frame rate content tends to be stuttering. This Television has wide viewing angles, so it’s a perfect option for a big seating configuration.

And if it doesn’t get bright enough to battle the glare, it has excellent reflective handling, so it fits well in most reasonably bright spaces. Unfortunately, like most OLED TV, there is a chance of irreversible burn-in, but this can just be a matter of constant static elements, such as whether you’re using TV as a PC display or whether you’re only watching the news.

PROS

  • Infinite contrast ratio.
  • Wide viewing angles.
  • Outstanding reflection handling.
  • Near-instant response time.
  • VRR support.

CONS

  • Doesn’t get very bright.
  • Risk of permanent burn-in.
  • Lower-frame rate content stutters.
